我在校园里练习观察
一次拍摄练习以后，我开始把“发生了什么”和“我注意到什么”分开记录。

新闻课上常问“发生了什么”。时间、地点、人物和过程要写清楚，不能只凭感觉。带相机在校园里走时，我又发现自己会问另一个问题：“我刚才注意到了什么？”
答案可能很小：下课后路口突然挤满人，风把花坛吹向同一个方向，窗边的光只照到半张桌子。它们不一定能成为一条新闻，却能让我知道自己当时站在哪里、看向哪里。
我把两种记录都留下。写事实时尽量准确，写 Plog 时承认这是我的视角。这样拍照和写稿不需要被说成同一件事，它们只是各自帮我把现场看得更清楚。

Journalism class often asks, “What happened?” Time, place, people, and sequence need to be clear; feeling alone is not enough. When I walk around campus with a camera, I notice that I ask a second question: “What caught my attention?”
The answer can be small: a crossing filling with people after class, flowers leaning in the same direction in the wind, or window light reaching only half a desk. These details may never become news, but they tell me where I stood and where I looked.
I keep both kinds of record. I try to be exact when writing facts, and I admit that a Plog reflects my own view. Photography and reporting do not need to become the same thing; each helps me see a scene more clearly in its own way.
